June 29

Hey everyone!

It's June 29.. which means that in 4 days I will be turning 18. Whoopdy-doo, I can buy lottery tickets finally...not that I'm going to.

My parents keep asking me what they should get me, and I have no idea. I really don't need much. I got a new Bible for graduation, and some spending cash that should last the rest of the summer. I thought about getting an iPad, but that's a pretty big investment right before college. I'll probably wait a while on that one.

In World Cup news...

Portugal (Team Cristiano Ronaldo) got eliminated by a much better Spain side today, much to my disappointment. I wanted to see Ronaldo make a deep run into the tournament, but he never really had enough support to get the job done. Spain deserved to win as they are passing the ball with extreme quality seen in no other side. Spain, Brasil, and Argentina have to be considered the favorites from this point, but no one can count out the Germans with the way they have been playing, either with the referee's help or without it. I honestly have no idea who will be the best side come July 11. I sure hope Argentina will be playing. I am definitely pulling for Lionel Messi to win the cup so he can match his predecessor and coach Diego Maradona. They are a lethal combo, and hopefully are prepared to make a deep run into the Finals.

The refereeing has been terrible lately. While Ronaldo is known for his diving, he didn't get any calls today, and he was certainly fouled a few times but didn't get the calls. I think Spain could've done anything they wanted to do to him and gotten away with it simply because of his reputation. Give the guy a break, he is still easily one of the top 2 or 3 players in the world.

Can't wait for the rest of the tournament!
