United vs. Blackpool

A rare Tuesday league match for United today (rescheduled from earlier due to snow). I missed the first goal and got back in time to see Blackpool take a 2-0 lead before halftime. Garbage defending. And it looked like the great streak of being undefeated in the league was coming to an end. Midfield was nowhere to be found, the defenders looked confused and out of position.

Halftime- Gibson off, Giggsy on. I told David before halftime that they'd make this substitution. Had to change things. Giggs comes on and immediately changes the game. United still couldn't find a way through the tough defending though. Then the virtually invisible Rooney was taken off for Chicharito. But it was already the 70th minute and the scoreline still read 2-0 in favor of Blackpool. And then the magic began...

72'- A great through ball from Nani puts Fletcher in at the near post, who squares across for none other than... Berbatov! 2-1! A fist pump from me and a 'come on!' from David, and United is back in business, trailing by only one.

74'- Only 2 minutes later, old-man Giggs plays a spectacular through ball to an onrushing Chicharito, who finishes to tie it at 2-2. We all breathe a huge sigh of relief; can't afford to drop points to Blackpool.

88'- Surely we're not gonna score again... The tie has to be good enough... Wait a second... Scholes picks up the ball in the middle with time and space, where he's been so deadly for nearly 20 years...

He picks out a streaking Berbatov behind the back 4...

This has to be it...

Berbatov fakes right, pushes left, all he has is the keep' to beat...

Berbatov strikes one...

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

3-2 United!

DIMITAR BERBATOV!!!
