March 7 Thoughts

It's been a while since I've written on here. I apologize to anyone who still reads Straight Talk, if anybody still does. (I think I'm still blogging more than Adam does on It's Not About Me.) D Wil has a blog now also, it's called Random Thoughts. It's been a pretty interesting last couple of weeks. I decided to get sick the first week of soccer games, so I played three games while very much under the weather. More blogs about soccer to come in the near future.

I haven't exactly been on a spiritual high the past few weeks, as I've found myself doing other things constantly, whether significant or insignificant. This needs to change though, and quickly. I try to go into every school week feeling I have a new beginning, and this is especially true this week. I need to try to read my Bible for a good amount of time each day this week, because that will help me keep my focus on the things above while the world around me constantly pulls me in different directions. Tonight at church, the Lee Singers came to sing, and what a blessing they were. They were all incredibly talented, and they filled our sanctuary with beautiful music. They sang the Revelation Song, which has become one of my favorites recently. The chorus is so encouraging and reassuring:

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation, I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Tonight I was reminded of the holiness of God as they sang that song. I've heard it a lot in the past few weeks, but when this choir sang it, it became so much more real to me. The lyrics sank deep into my heart, and I felt a renewed sense of passion for the things of God. Not very often has a song affected me the way that song did tonight.

I've been worried about a lot of things over the past few weeks. College, soccer, grades, and most importantly relationships, have boggled me down. When I get into a rush doing the things of this world, I so easily forget that God is holy to see me through any situation He puts me in. This assurance could not have come at a better time, and I am so glad I heard the Lee Singers sing that song tonight. This song can be so reassuring for anyone who struggles by focusing too much on the things of this world. So the next time you're in a tough situation, and you don't think you'll make it through the day, just remember the words to the Revelation Song.
