Things often happen to us that we don't really understand. We try more and more to figure out what people mean in their disguises of simple situations with complicated over dramatizations. It's useless. There's just some things that we can't understand. So I gave up on trying.
While each man was made in God's own image, each man (and woman) is different from all others. We all respond to similar circumstances and trials in strongly contrasting ways. While one situation can drive some to the line of sanity, it can propel another into a state of indifference.
I've taken notice of this occurring many times throughout high school. I guess this is a time of self-discovery and divergence into oneself, so it is a great time for one to question who he or she really is. One of the greatest things about us is that we are all unique, and that we are each affected differently by life's situations. This unique attribute of humans begs us to discover who we truly are, but at what cost?
There is a time and a place for everything, and I don't believe that the time of deep conversations about humans and morals is now. Sure we can talk about these things from time to time, and we must do so, because they are vitally important. However, sometimes the best way to express ourselves is to just try to have some fun.
We have to enjoy our high school years, because countless adults I've spoken with said that these years are the best of one's life. I want to create memories that will last a lifetime, stories that I can one day tell my children and grandchildren.
So while a time will come to go on deep journeys of self-discovery, I don't believe that time is here yet. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the importance of such matters. However, I also believe that discovery should not come at the cost of creating memories that truly define who a person is.
All in all, enjoy high school. It is the formula I have used this year, and it's been working pretty well thus far. Create memories that will last a lifetime, that will shape you into the person you long to become.
