The Story of Christmas

The Christmas season is here yet again
And everyone is filled with the cheer
People spending time with family and friends
In the most wonderful time of the year

The guests exchange stories and tales of the past
And talk of the year that transpired
And I heard a tale that has gone unsurpassed
And upon hearing, my heart was inspired

The story of Christ, who came down in love
For the salvation of all mankind
A man sent straight down from Heaven above
To give sight to those who were blind

It started in Bethlehem, on a starry night
In a manger, the place of his birth
And ended in Jerusalem, when he took his flight
And ascended to Heaven from Earth

Mary the virgin conceived of a child
And Jesus, the name he received
The king of the world, born so meek and mild
To bring salvation to those who believed

The wise men they came, they totaled in three
And brought gifts of expense for the King
And the angels descended joyfully
Bringing a new song to sing

Yet no one knew on the night he was born
That this boy who had come from on high
Would have his spirit and his body torn
So that man no longer must die

And that’s the account of the Christmas story
The pinnacle of love and of grace
The Christ from above who descended from glory
In order to die in man’s place
